World-Renowned Economist Delivers Lecture at New Uzbekistan University
At New Uzbekistan University, the academic journey of our students is enriched by the presence of leading scholars from around the world. On April 25, we had the distinct honor of welcoming Professor Rustam Ibragimov from Imperial College London—currently ranked #9 globally—for a special guest lecture on cutting-edge developments in economics and finance.
A proud native of Uzbekistan, Professor Ibragimov holds a Ph.D. from Yale University and has taught at prestigious institutions such as Harvard University, Oxford, Cambridge, and Columbia University. His research spans econometrics, financial economics, risk management, and statistical modeling. He is widely recognized for his work on robust inference methods, heavy-tailed distributions, and applications in economics and finance.
The topic of his lecture, “New Robust Inference in Economics and Finance: Research Directions and Implications for Market Efficiency, Forecasting and Econometric Analysis,” addressed some of the most urgent challenges in the field. Students and faculty had the opportunity to explore innovative approaches to understanding market behavior, forecasting in volatile environments, and dealing with dependence and uncertainty—critical themes for those pursuing careers in finance, data science, or economic policy.
This event is part of the university’s broader commitment to bringing global academic excellence to Uzbekistan. By hosting internationally renowned professors with extensive teaching and research experience at top universities, New Uzbekistan University is creating a dynamic and forward-thinking educational environment.
We are proud to have scholars like Professor Rustam Ibragimov return to their homeland and help shape the future of higher education in Uzbekistan.
